“It’s not about getting the perfect answer, it’s about asking the right question. That’s true in coaching, and it’s true with ChatGPT.”

00:00
If you've ever used ChatGPT and thought, ugh, this sounds generic, or this doesn't sound like me at all, you're not alone. One of the biggest reasons people give up on using AI is because the outputs feel too vanilla, too surface level, or just very off brand. But here's the thing, it's not the tool, it's the prompt. In today's episode, I'm gonna teach you exactly how to write prompts that actually work.
00:28
prompts that give you better content, save you time, and make you feel like you've got a strategy-minded team member or expert by your side, one that gets your brand, your voice, and your goals. Are you ready? Let's do it.
00:45
Welcome to Strut It, a podcast about creating bold visibility on social media with zero apologies. I'm Elizabeth Marberry, your host and Instagram marketing coach. I help small business owners get seen on Instagram and monetize their offers so they can make more money doing their sole lead work. If you're tired of spinning your wheels on Instagram and you're seeking simple, proven Instagram marketing strategies that actually work, you're in the right place.
01:14
Let's dive in.
01:23
Welcome back to the show. I'm thrilled you're here for part four of this five part series on how to use AI and ChatGPT in your marketing and business growth. Now, if you missed last week's episode, go check that one out because I shared 10 different ways I use ChadGBT across both of my businesses and in my personal life. That episode was all about giving you real examples to help you start thinking.
01:50
bigger about how this tool can support you, not just with content, but with strategy, clarity, and even your everyday decision-making. I'm super excited about today's episode and next week's because they are really the most important pieces of this entire series because it all comes down to this, your prompts. If you're not getting the kind of output you want from ChatGPT,
02:19
or if the content just feels off, generic or meh, it's not the tool, it's the input and it's how you're prompting and working with it. So in these next two episodes, I'm going to really go deep with you on how to fix that. Today I'm teaching you a brilliant framework created by another expert in the AI space, someone whose work I admire a great deal.
02:46
And then next week, I'm gonna share my signature system for how I personally use ChatGPT every single day. These are the tools that help me save time, simplify big ideas, and show up with more confidence. And I cannot wait to help you find the method that clicks with your brain and your workflow, because that really is the key. Just like anything else, there's different ways and methods in which you can use ChatGPT.
03:15
and you have to find what feels aligned for yourself, your brand, your brain, how you work and all of that. So I'm hopeful that ensuring these two different ways of approaching it, you will find a system that works for you. And before we dive in, I wanna clarify that while this series has been really focused on child LGBT, everything that I'm teaching you about how to use this tool and prompt it can be used with
03:43
Google Gemini or any other AI tool that you wish to use. I use ChatGPT everyday. That is what I am very familiar with and comfortable with. So that's what I teach from, but know that there's so many other AI tools that you can use. Okay, so the biggest secret to using ChatGPT well is it's not about getting the perfect answer from the AI. It's about asking the right
04:12
questions. And I want to pause for a moment because I personally have invested in many different coaches and mentors over the last six years. And I also am a coach and consultant myself, and I mentor other small businesses and entrepreneurs on how to leverage Instagram in their organic marketing strategy. So they're organic, meaning no paid ads.
04:42
content drives actual leads and sales for their business and in working with clients and in my own work with my coaches What I have determined is that the people who ask the best questions in a coaching container are the ones Who get the best results? They are the ones who get the return on investment
05:09
I don't know about you, but I have joined group programs before where people are shy, where they're sitting back, where they're not voicing their questions or their concerns, maybe because they're afraid to take up space or ask a dumb question or whatever is their holdup. And because they don't ask the question, there's no opportunity for the coach or the mentor to really spot them on where they're getting stuck and offer a solution in real time. And so you get to the end of the coaching program and you're like, well, I didn't get much out of it.
05:39
And it's like anything else, right? You get out of a coaching program what you are willing to put into it. And it's so interesting and prepping for this episode because I can't think of a better example than ChatGPT. If you have been unimpressed so far with Chad GBT, I would argue, my darling, that you need to spend more time with it. You need to seed it. Last week we talked.
06:06
A couple of weeks ago, we talked about seeding it and what that means, which really means training it. But in order for it to work for your business and for your life, you have to get masterful at asking really good questions. And so I love that this tool is asking us all to do that. Okay, so today I want to teach you a game changing framework that I use. And I honestly used this
06:36
framework when I created this five part podcast series on AI for you. And this is not my framework. It is from Jeff Woods, G-E-O-F-F Woods. He is the bestselling author of the AI Driven Leader. Spoiler alert, I have not read his book. It is for C-level executives who are really wanting to learn how to integrate AI into their organizations and corporations.
07:03
I do actually want to read the book, but I heard him on a recent podcast interview and just totally fell in love with his approach. I'll be sure to link him in the show notes. You can go stalk him and binge his work. But his framework is called CRIT, C-R-I-T. And I'm gonna break it down for you. And then of course, if you wanna go deeper on this particular framework, definitely go join Jeff's world and binge all of his content.
07:33
And sidebar, if anyone listening knows Jeff Woods, because I mean, who knows, maybe you do, send him my way because I would love to have him on the podcast. I would love to dive deeper with him into how AI is transforming business strategy and how it's really a non-negotiable of business leaders in 2025 and beyond. Okay, so let's get into the Crip framework. So C stands for context, R stands for role,
08:03
I stands for interview and T stands for task. Don't worry, we're gonna go through it all. I'm gonna explain it. So see context. When you are working with chat, you begin with giving the AI all of the background on your business goals, your audience, your offers, your vibe, okay? Which by the way, I'm gonna start calling chat jpt chat, because it's just easier for me to say.
08:32
When you're working with it, in this episode, I am already kind of assuming that you have seeded it with your ideal clients, with your business, with your offers, all of this stuff. So in this idea of context, I want you to think of a very specific problem or project that you are working on within your business. And I'm going to give you a real life example in a second, but you always start with context of, you know, what you're working on.
09:02
What project is it, the goal that you are trying to achieve or the launch or whatever it is. So you have to give it context first. The next thing is R, which stands for role. So simply put, tell ChatGPT who to be. Do you want it to act as a brand strategist? Do you want it to be your CFO? Do you want it to be your launch coach?
09:32
or a content marketer. So it's really helpful if you can tell ChatGPT how to act and what role to take. The I is interview. Now this is something that I had not really done a lot of before I heard about Jeff's framework and after doing it, this piece really, really helps and
10:00
Interview basically just means that you are gonna invite Chad GBT to ask you clarifying questions to refine its understanding. Let's kind of break this down step by step so far. So you could say, I am looking at my financials for year to date in 2025. My goal is to hit
10:28
$1 million in sales by the end of this year. So you're giving it context. And then you would say something like, in the past, these are some things that are working for us. This is some current projects we're working on or offers we're working on launching this year. And yet we're still coming up short. So you're, again, I'm just, I'm making this up off the cuff, but like essentially you're giving it the context of what you're working on and what your goal is, right?
10:57
Then after that, I would say, please act as my chief financial officer and ask me five questions to help you clarify your understanding of my problem and to fill in the gaps of anything that I'm missing so far. So that's just an example. So it will give you five questions and then you can answer each of those questions. That is a beautiful way of prompting
11:26
AI is that you're giving it that context, you're giving it that role, and then you're kind of putting it back on chat to ask you questions to further clarify. And that will also, of course, spark more in your brain of, yeah, I need to mention this. Oh, oh yeah, that's a great idea. And it can just help you to structure your thoughts and clearly communicate. The final step is task T. So clearly state what you want it to do.
11:56
Please do a full analysis of our P &L reports and strategy for the year and help us to map out a month by month sales and marketing strategy to help us achieve our $1 million revenue goal. Please also highlight any blind spots in our plan that I may be missing. Okay, so just to review, CRIT is context.
12:26
role, interview, task. So I wanna share another example of how I have used Crit recently. So this five part podcast series, I created using this framework in ChatGPT. So here's exactly what I did. I gave chat the context. I said something like, I'm creating a beginner friendly podcast series on using ChatGPT for business growth.
12:54
Then I assigned it a role. Please act as a podcast marketing strategist. Then I asked it to interview me so I could really brain dump everything that I wanted to cover in this series. Then I gave it the task. After I gave it all of that information, I said the task was,
13:22
Help me structure a five-part podcast series with intros, key points, and a solid call to action. Here is what I want the call to action to be. Here is the goal of the series. And of course, I gave it all of that information. As I was doing this, I want you to imagine that if you were sitting across from someone on your team or sitting next to someone on your team and you're building out a launch plan.
13:50
or a big sale you have coming up that you need to prepare for in your store or whatever it is, what would you do? There would be dialogue, there would be back and forth, right? It's not a monologue and it's not one and done. And you need to think of Chad JBT like that. You're just getting into conversation, you're giving feedback. So as I went through that process, what I did is of course, I kept adding more and more of my own voice into chat.
14:19
So that voice would come through in these episodes. I would share specific stories that I had in my brain. I would share those with chat, different examples, because again, in this context, I was using chat GBT as an assistant and not as like a final author, right? Like everything in this episode is coming from my brain, my experience, my heart, but I really use chat to refine it and prove it, help me to see gaps where I might be missing some things that you guys need to hear.
14:50
and it is incredibly helpful and it saves me so much time. Like what would have taken me four hours to plan and really just map out a five-part podcast series took me less than an hour to do. So little mini exercise for you before you prompt ChatGBT Next, I want you to answer these five questions. Think about what is the goal of this content or project, right? And that will really help you
15:19
to give chat the context. Number two, who is it for when you're giving context? I want you to make sure that you're really explicit about who it is for. And of course, how do I want it to sound? So if your outputs that you're getting are not quite right, give chat feedback like, hey, this sounds too.
15:44
buttoned up and professional, I wanted to sound more like I'm speaking to a business bestie or a colleague that is a close friend of mine, right? That is gonna change how it writes and you can really use some adjectives to describe your sound and your brand voice. Number four, I want you to think about what role do you want chat GBT to take, okay? So you did the context, you're gonna think what role do I want?
16:12
chat to take. And this is where it's actually really interesting because as a small business owner, we typically don't have the luxury of having tons of people on our team. Okay. I don't have a chief marketing officer. I don't have a CMO on my team. I don't have a COO. I don't have an HR department, right? Like all of these different things that we face as business owners. Some of us have those different pieces plugged in. Some of us don't.
16:42
but we all have roles that we could dream of fulfilling if we had the budget for it, right? Where we could get more support. I'm sure you've heard the saying that as you scale a business, you wanna find the who's because you, business owner, are not an expert at everything. I know we like to think we are sometimes, but we're not, right? The more that a business owner and CEO can stay in their zone of genius, the better. And then when you find the...
17:11
who's the people who can also work in their zone of genius, your company is gonna grow and scale with more ease and more effectiveness, right? So this question of what role do I want ChatGBT to take is actually kind of fun because you get to try on these different hats and really ask ChatGBT to support you in those roles. And you can really think big here. like you can create a board of directors. You could have
17:40
Steve Jobs on your board if you love him and his philosophies. Like the sky is the limit here. So really think about what role do you want CHOCGBT to take? What questions can I ask you to get better results? And again, just feed that into chat and say, you know, ask me five questions to help me outline this podcast series or ask me five questions to help me build out a launch plan for my new group coaching offer. Okay.
18:09
So if you start there, your prompts and your content are gonna be a thousand times better and you are gonna fall in love with Chat2BT if you haven't already, just like I have. Let's recap. If you've made it through this series so far, you now know what Chat2BT is, why it matters, how I use it daily in my business and personal life so you can have ideas as to how you can utilize this tool, why your prompts matter, and how

how to start writing prompts that actually work. But here's the real magic. If you combine this AI strategy with personalized mentorship, you will become unstoppable.
