Okay, so let's get into how to optimize your Instagram profile for client attraction. And then at the end, I'm going to give you a prompt that you can run with. So first of all, why is it important to optimize your Instagram profile as a business or a brand looking to monetize? Data tells us that when a potential follower comes to your account, they will decide within seconds if they're going to follow you or not. So this is why it is

absolutely critical that you have an optimized bio because it is truly a gateway to converting those visitors or lurkers into followers, leads, and clients. And if it's not optimized, what can happen is you could spend all this time creating a video that pops off, and this totally happened to me, side note, before I knew what the heck I was doing, 10,000 views on this video, but zero follows. And it's because there is not congruency with the content that you're creating.

and your Instagram bio, which you can kind of think as your storefront of your business. So before you do this work, your number one job is to know your ideal client or customer. If you are unclear on this piece, everything else is harder. Optimizing your bio is hard, creating content is hard. Oftentimes when clients come to me and they're feeling stuck, it's because they're just not yet clear on who it is

that they are serving, what kind of content they want to create to serve those people. And sometimes there's a lack of clarity around their offer. So all of those different pieces are, of course, very important. I've done other episodes on target market research so you can really understand who your ideal client is and essentially speak directly to them through your content using their words.

A great example of this is in this master class I just did, there was a fitness coach. She has her own program, but it's through one of these like bigger fitness organizations. And they have a very specific title for their six week startup program to get you started with your workouts and nutrition and movement and all those different pieces. In her call to action, it said the name of the program. I told her,

I don't know what that is. What is that?" And she said, oh, well, that's the six-week program that you can join. And I said, see, you're using your expert word. She was using the words that the company taught her is the name of the program. And I reflected back to her, if I was a stranger and I didn't know the company, I wouldn't even know that that was what you were describing. So we need to be really explicit and we need to describe it.

in words that our ideal clients understand. So instead of saying the actual name of the program, which I'm not gonna say, because I wanna preserve the identity of this fitness organization and all of that, but instead of saying the name of it, I would say something like, your six week bootcamp starts here, or your six week transformation starts here. I mean, that's a little bit long, but you hear what I'm saying, which is that we need to be... m

clear in our messaging and it's really hard to do that when you are in your business. And that's honestly why I have always invested in coaching and mentorship over the last five to six years because it is so much easier to make these key shifts when someone who is not in your business, not swimming in the soup as I like to say, can come in and give you that outside perspective. Step one, your profile picture. I want you to use a close up headshot with a vibrant background color to help you stand out. Now that's for you if you're a personal brand. If you are not the face of your business, you can use a client photo. But remember, people connect with people, not logos. So unless...

your target or Walmart or a logo that I am going to recognize, I do recommend putting a person in your profile photo. Step number two, username and name fields. So your handle and your name field, these fields on Instagram are search engine optimized. So it's imperative that you include keywords here. So for example, with my dance studio, our handle is wedding dance coach. That's the name of my business.

And the name field says, wedding dance coach, Denver or virtual private dance lessons. Those are all keywords that my ideal clients are searching. Step three is, I want you to look at that first line of your bio. Now this is where so many of us go off the rails. And so I know I'm teaching you this because I made all of these mistakes and my job is to shortcut this learning curve for you. So we've got this. Your first line of your bio should clearly state what you post about.

and who it's for. This is not where you're gonna say, know, I got my MBA at Harvard. No offense, but no one cares about that. They wanna know what's in it for them. Why should they follow you? What kind of content are you gonna post about? Who do you serve? How do you help them? That is that first line. So with my dance studio, I say, helping nervous non-dancers and madly in love couples rock their first dance. And yes, that is a little bit long. It does go into the second line. I don't mind because that line really

spoke to me. Now for my personal brand, my Instagram marketing coaching business, my top line says grow your IG, attract clients and sell more. So you know that's exactly what I'm going to help you do. And when you look at my content, you're going to see that I teach you how to do that with my content. Super simple, super clear on who it's for. The fourth step. So underneath that first line of your bio, you have the option to add a

credibility line. So one of my clients, she's an Etsy shop owner. She has over 15,000 five star reviews on Etsy. That is so killer. So I told her, let's put that there. Let's put that in your bio, 15 five star reviews on Etsy. So if you have some social proof that you want to share, or that could be where you say, I got my MBA at Harvard, no shade to anybody who got your MBA at Harvard. You are so cool. I'm not putting you down. I'm just giving you a hard time.

My clients know I always shoot it straight. So you're seeing the real me right now. On my page, on my personal brand page, it says CEO at Wedding Dance Coach and Strudit Pod. So again, I had to kind of abbreviate the words because we have limited characters here in our bio, but that is my credibility line. I'm a CEO of a brick and mortar dance studio. I'm the host of this podcast. So optional credibility line there. And then your final line has a clear

call to action. This is where so many of us miss the mark. What do I do if I want to buy your product? What do I do if I want to hire you as my coach? What is my next step if I want to come tour your wedding venue? We have to have a really clear call to action and this is where you need to be strategic. What is your customer journey? Are you wanting to build an email list? Are you wanting me to join your Facebook community because that's what you're monetizing right now?

I want you to think about that and have a really clear call to action in your bio telling people exactly where that link is going to take them. When I did a full Instagram audit for one of my clients, she is a Denver hair and makeup artist and

I had a blast auditing her Instagram bio and really getting to know her and her business. And I want to give you a little snapshot of the before and after. So before her bio said, for the elevated modern bride, specializing in enhancing your natural beauty. And I said to her, I don't know who the elevated modern bride is. What is that? Who is that? And in our time together, I was able to dig into what she actually does. Like what is her zone of genius?

as a hair and makeup artist because she doesn't work with everybody. She has a style. She has an aesthetic that she prefers and that she's known for, right? So that was the before, the after of her bio says, soft, glam and natural makeup for the modern bride. Right there, soft, glam and natural makeup. Even if you know nothing about makeup, you have an idea of what I am talking about, right? Hollywood waves, boho and romantic hairstyles.

Hollywood waves, we can all picture that, right? And then her call to action is so clear, free bridal beauty consult because she does a free discovery call with potential clients before she books them. After she had this clarity and we did this audit, she was so fired up about her content. She went to go create a reel, it completely popped off and she got 10 leads in six hours. Clarity on your side of things. Clarity on who you're calling in, what kind of content you're gonna create, and what you want those ideal clients that find you to do next. What is that customer journey? When you get those pieces connected, Instagram will really work for your business. So we're going to start with context, and this is just an example. Here's the context. I'm an entrepreneur looking to optimize my Instagram bio to attract more of my ideal clients. That's very general. I want you to tell chat who you are, what you serve, give it lots of details and context around your business, your ideal clients. I need support pulling out the key messaging and keywords in my niche so that my Instagram profile does the heavy lifting for me and makes people want to immediately follow me and binge my content. Now, that was context. Now, role. You're gonna assign the AI a role. Please act as a brand strategist and Instagram bio expert.

Now, this is the next part of the prompt where you ask it to interview you because so many of us, the key to leveraging AI and having it give you the best result is you have to be a brilliant communicator with it. And many of us struggle with communication, right? We have so much going on in our heads.

So this framework of Jeff's is so brilliant, the I is interview, and this is how you do it. I want you to ask me one question at a time, up to five questions, to get all the clarity you need on my brand and business before writing an optimized Instagram bio. After collecting my answers, I would love for you to do the following. Number one, so this is where we're giving it a task. Analyze my current Instagram bio.

I'll upload a screenshot below. That's right, you can take a picture of your current bio and you should, because I wanna see your before and after. You're gonna be sending these to me, by the way. I definitely want to see your before and afters in my DMs. So you're gonna take a screenshot and you're gonna say, analyze my current Instagram bio. Tell me what's working, what's confusing, and whether it clearly communicates who my account is for, what kind of content I share, and how someone can work with me.

Based on your analysis and my answers to your questions, write three options for a high converting Instagram bio. Keep it within the 150 character limit. Now I have to warn you that chat GPT specifically struggles with character limits. So you, my friend, remember you are the thought leader. AI is your thought partner. You have to use your brain, you have to be the leader, you're gonna have to edit it, you're gonna have to make it 10 times better. But this is going to help you so much to get.
